Don Bosco College, KR Puram, Bengaluru, celebrated Freshers’ Day on August 28, 2024, with a vibrant fashion parade, inspiring speeches, and recognition of academic excellence and faculty achievements. Mr. Muhammed Shahil (I BCA) and Ms. Rakshitha B (I BBA) were crowned ‘Mr. and Ms. Fresher,’ respectively, following the innovative ‘Old Money’- themed fashion parade.
In his keynote address, Fr. Wilson Konthempilly, Director, Don Bosco College, encouraged students to “Dream big, work hard, and become the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.” He also praised senior students for their outstanding performance in university exams, urging all students to strive for similar excellence. Fr. Dr. Geo Kalladanthyil, Principal, emphasized the unity of the student body, highlighting that despite diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, “Here, at Don Bosco College, we are one.”
Faculty recognition was a notable part of the program. Dr. Krishnoji Rao, Associate Professor Department of Kannada, Don Bosco College, was felicitated for his contributions to Kannada studies. Recently elevated to Professor, Dr. Rao serves on both the Board of Studies and the Board of Examination at Bengaluru North University (BNU), further solidifying his distinguished academic standing.
The festivities also featured a variety of food and accessories stalls led by Ms. Pooja Eashwar of the Department of Commerce. The stalls offered a delectable spread, including Lemon Delight, Brownie Bites, Pasta, and fresh juice, providing a treat for students. In addition to food, stalls selling fashion accessories like pendants, bracelets, and bangles were popular among students.
The freshers, full of excitement, shared mixed opinions about the event. S.K. Vishal (I BCom) appreciated the overall coordination. Srujan A (I BBA) praised the energy and performances, particularly the fashion parade, while Celista Elizabeth (I BCA) cherished the chance to bond with teachers and seniors, describing the day as “fun and exciting.”
Bro. Xavier and Catherine Carmel Mary compered the program. Mr. Felix welcomed the gathering while Ms. Komal delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with active participation from students and faculty members, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.
