Don Bosco College held a Training and Capacity-Building Workshop on Plastic Waste Management on October 7, 2024. The Young India Organization organized the event as part of KIA India’s CSR initiative, implemented by the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA). The workshop aimed at promoting a ‘responsible outlook for plastic’ (DROP) while encouraging a pollution-free environment.
Key facilitators, Mr. Veerababu and Ms. Vanitha, led the workshop, demonstrating the ‘Journey of Plastic Waste from Bin to Bin’. Ms. Vanitha illustrated the process of plastic segregation, collection, and recycling while emphasizing the importance of reducing plastic’s harmful effects on nature.
To support this initiative, a plastic, paper, and glass collection bin was installed on campus with the support of the college’s Administrator, Fr. Sanjay. The NSS Club, led by Ms. Archana Sukumaran, the Faculty Coordinator, and students and support staff, participated in the event. In a symbolic gesture, the Young India Organization distributed eco-friendly cloth bags to all attendees, promoting alternatives to plastic.
Rev. Fr. Sanjay thanked the organizers and pledged to further promote plastic waste management within the college community. This initiative marks the college’s commitment to a sustainable future.
