World Mental Health Day Observed

The Department of Humanities at Don Bosco College, KR Puram, observed World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2025, with activities focusing on the theme ‘Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.’ The programme aimed to create awareness about mental health and the importance of accessing timely support services.

The event began at 9:30 a.m. with students delivering awareness messages in their respective classes on emotional well-being and mutual support during crises. A seminar was conducted by the college counsellor, Ms Sheba Suchitra, on the theme of mental health in emergencies. The session discussed the psychological impact of disasters, coping strategies, and the need for accessible mental health services.

An awareness stall titled ‘Understanding Emotions’ was set up in the college lobby during the morning break. Students participated in interactive activities and discussions designed to enhance emotional understanding and reflection.

The department conducted group activities and games highlighting emotional self-care and peer support. These sessions encouraged interaction and communication among students. The day concluded with a post-lunch screening of the film ‘Good Will Hunting.’ The movie depicted themes related to emotional challenges and the role of counselling support, marking the end of the observance.
