Third Semester MSW students undertook a five-day study tour to Chennai from January 30 to February 3, 2026, accompanied by Ms. Rosemary FN. The tour was conducted as part of the academic fieldwork requirement.
During the visit, students met representatives of several non-profit organisations, including Suyum Charitable Trust, Anirudh Foundation, Samskriya Foundation, Sahodaran, and the Skill Training Unit of Ma Foi Foundation. They also visited the Ma Foi Foundation Head Office in Anna Nagar and Emerson at Mahindra World City.
As part of the programme, students visited the Government Museum, Chennai Rail Museum, and Tamil Nadu Police Museum. The visits focused on understanding organisational structure, governance, policies, and operational practices.
Students used public transport during the tour and observed local commuting systems, including suburban train services. They also noted differences in the cost of living and urban infrastructure.
Accommodation was arranged at SIGA Polytechnic College with the support of Rev. Dr Geo Kalladanthiyil, Principal, Don Bosco College, KR Puram, and Rev. Fr. Jayapalan, former Provincial and Rector of Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Chennai, who facilitated arrangements and coordinated interactions with the Social Work Department faculty. The tour concluded on February 3, 2026.
