Induction Week Ends with Department-Wise Orientation Sessions

The final day of Induction Week 2025 at Don Bosco College, KR Puram, featured department-wise orientation sessions held on July 15, aimed at introducing newly admitted students to their academic disciplines, skill expectations, and future career pathways. Departments, including Commerce, Humanities, Social Work, Computer Applications, and Management, participated, each aligning their session with the common theme: ‘Reaffirming Your Choice, Fueling Your Future.’

The Department of Commerce hosted Dr. Pratima Khandelwal, TEDx Speaker and Skills Trainer associated with IIT Madras. She guided B.Com students on aligning personal strengths with evolving opportunities in commerce, highlighting areas such as data analytics, entrepreneurship, and the importance of continuous learning. The interactive session incorporated AI tools and concluded with a formal felicitation.

The Department of Humanities organized a workshop led by Ms. Maria Auxilia Kalloli, Psychiatric Social Worker at NIMHANS. Drawing from her interdisciplinary background in mental health, arts, and sports, she encouraged students to explore non-linear career paths, emphasizing emotional intelligence and self-awareness. The orientation ended with an open Q&A session.

The Department of Social Work invited Ms. Chitra, Strategic Project Leader at Bhumi NGO, to address BSW students. She stressed the importance of fieldwork, soft skills, and exposure to diverse domains such as child rights, disability, and HRM. Career opportunities in CSR, fundraising, and global social work contexts were also discussed.

The Department of Computer Applications welcomed BCA students with a session led by HoD Ms. Archana Nair S and a guest talk by Mr. Mohammed Khurram, Application Developer at Accenture. He spoke about industry trends, in-demand IT skills such as cloud computing and cybersecurity, and career options in the tech sector. Student council members shared personal insights on academic and co-curricular engagement.

The Department of Management hosted Mr. Kishore B.S. for a guest lecture attended by first-year BBA students. He spoke about the relevance of management education, the importance of setting early goals, and aligning personal strengths with academic and professional objectives.

Each session concluded with student interactions, reflections, and group photographs. These orientations marked the culmination of the three-day Induction Week, providing students with a structured introduction to their academic journey and future.
