International Girl Child Day Observed

The Department of Social Work at Don Bosco College, KR Puram, observed International Girl Child Day on October 10, 2025, a day before the global observance on October 11. The event focused on creating awareness about issues faced by girls in society.

As part of the observance, Social Work students distributed wristbands to students and faculty carrying the message “Strong Girls, Strong World.” They also produced a short video reel on topics including child marriage, eve teasing, women’s safety at night, and workplace harassment. Students presented a mime on gender preference for boys and the issue of female foeticide. The performance aimed to communicate the need for equal respect and opportunity for the girl child.

BSW and MSW students also participated in an event organised by BOSCO Bangalore at Bosco Mane. They joined a human chain in support of International Girl Child Day and distributed wristbands to students from other colleges to promote awareness of gender equality. The observance was concluded to promote awareness on the protection and empowerment of the girl child.
